Winding down...

These images mark the last of my family posts for awhile; an emotional post for me indeed. Four years ago I started my photography business and could never have imagined how many amazing families I would meet along the way and how much I would come to realize that this is the work I was truly destined to do. As a family photographer you are invited into such an intimate part of a family's life and then later develop an even stronger emotional attachment to them when working on their images. Today my husband and I begin the 30 day countdown until our baby boy arrives. I will miss meeting and photographing new families for now.... but cannot wait to fall in love with my own.

Below I introduce 6 mo old "O." He wins for "most sparkling eyes."

What a sweet little girl "k" was for her 6 month shoot! This is one laid back baby right here. I think it was maybe 10 minutes into our shoot that she pulled the yawns on me; C'mon, modeling is tough work;) She pulled through though and gave me some super cute expressions!

At Klode park with the "S" kiddos!

A recent shoot with 2 yo "J" and 6 mo old "S" at Klode Park in Milwaukee. Another one of Milwaukee's tucked away secrets, Klode park is a great little park to go for some peace a quiet at the water. I told myself all summer long I would take my husband there for a romantic picnic one day; where did the summer go? Guess we will will have to try back in the spring, only then it will it will be for a family picnic:)

So often I get families who have a panic attack if there is rain. I always make sure to note that it can actually make for some great shots! Usually we end up rescheduling;) I met the "T" family for our shoot in downtown Delafield, WI. The rain came but did not stop us! Mom and dad were super laid back and 6 month old "A" followed suit.

The "A" gang!

Whenever I have shoots with four kids I cannot help but think about the dynamic of my own family growing up. These four are lucky to be so close in age and will appreciate it even more the older they get! I met the "A" gang, at Lannon Quarry in Menomonee Falls, WI. This shoot marked the end of Fall I think. Sad to say goodbye:(

A little sneak peek from a recent shoot with 2 yo "L" and 6 month old "Q." Mom and dad are good friends of good friends of mine, which as you might guess made for a pretty laid back shoot:) I still cannot get over the little face on "Q!" Have you seen a prettier baby? And "L" must have known that I could use a little extra exercise these days;) When we unleashed ourselves outside, he sure had me movin around the park! And boy did he own this park.

"G" kiddos

Meet the incredibly adorable "G" kiddos! We had our shoot in Milwaukee's historic Third Ward district; one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee for sure. Great idea mom! Just when I was missing my urban backdrop of Chicago too;) We raced around from spot to spot and almost got ourselves in some trouble with parking enforcement. Yeah, we were livin on the dangerous side!

"B" fam sneak peek...

4 pm in lovely Bucktown Chicago.... I met the "B" fam and felt connected right away. With family visiting from out of town and a soccer game to make in an hour, we crazily ran around snapping away! LOVE the way our shoot turned out; perhaps I work well under pressure;) 8 and 5 yo kiddos "C and J" get "best personality" award.

An early morning shoot with the "W" kiddos! I like getting out of the city every once in awhile and boy did I know I was out when I passed a "tractor crossing" sign;) That's also usually an indicator that you are in an absolutely beautiful place! Big open spaces and peace and quiet; that's where I met these two bunnies for our shoot. Introducing 3 yo "G" and 18 month old "C.

Okay so I photograph a lot of REALLY cute kiddos, but c'mon these two? Meet 3 yo "L" and 6 mo old "A." The rain kept us from venturing out but we didn't mind bouncing around the house (their very cool house btw:) and managed to squeeze in a few shots out on the porch. Can't forget to give a shout out to Grandma who made the adorable knit sweaters! So good!

Another shoot at my favorite new spot! Downtown Cedarburg, WI. Wow were these two all about fun! I told mom how much I love hats and they came PREPARED! I was in hat heaven:) We had a gorgeous day but braved the most intense winds; Did that stop us? Nope! Had so much fun 11 and 7 yo "P + C."

A recent shoot with 1 yo "A." When I made the trip to check out Schlitz Audobon Nature Center in Bayshore, I couldn't believe I was still in Milwaukee. Love how Milwaukee just continues to surprise me like this. We had a nice morning (wet, but nice;) walking the nature trails. And how lucky we were that Grandma came along to help us get the great little faces you see! How sweet:)

-Wow this has been a crazy month. I've definitely been getting my exercise chasing all of these kiddos around! A few weeks ago I entered my third trimester; let's just say my days rolling around on the ground like a "silly goose" are over; at least until my own little rascal arrives;)

A recent shoot with 7 yo "M." This is one spunky girl here! She reminded me a lot of myself when I was young:) I met "M" and her family at their home in Franklin, WI. The gorgeous wooded area you see is their backyard; a photographers dream, especially during this time of the year! Luckily I think we caught the tail end of the beautiful fall color.

This little guy was in town visiting from New Jersey. How perfect we were able to arrange a time to meet for a shoot in the beautiful Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. Meet the adorable 7 month old "C." I've been shooting so much natural landscape here in Milwaukee, it was nice to get back to the urban backdrop of the city! Can't forget to mention this was my #3 baby who decided to take a snooze on me;)

These two leave me speechless! Watch out mom, they are going to steal hearts! Meet 9 yo "M and 11 yo "M." I did not hesitate when mom asked if we could do the shoot at the beautiful Villa Terrace, located at the end of my street! Mom and dad were married there:) How special to have shots done of the kids there now.

We took a lovely morning stroll through their Avondale neighborhood of Chicago. My favorite stop was at their community garden where they had their very own plot! How fun.

Bring out the sweaters! Fall has arrived; Thankfully:) I have to say, being 6 months pregnant and just not much of a summer girl, I am not disappointed to say goodbye to the summer.

We had a beautiful crisp evening for our shoot at Big Bay Park in Whitefish Bay. My second time shooting there now and I am in love with the sand and the light! Meet 4 yo "J." What a fun kiddo he was for a shoot. Another little guy who gets me pretty excited about having a boy!

Just wanted to mention how much I am loving all my Groupon families! Wisconsinites rock!

Meet 1 yo "E." Still getting his beauty sleep when I arrived, he was delightful and camera ready when he awoke! This is one hip little guy. Gotta love those kiddo fedoras!

The next few months will be busy. With 40 Groupon clients added to the mix, I will surely be on my toes! Just a heads up.... I am booking shoots now through November. If you are hoping for an outdoor shoot, September and October are the best bet. Note that I am booking up fast for those months so please book sooner than later! Nesting in December:) and on Maternity leave through February 2012.

BOY oh BOY!

Some of you may know that I am expecting my first little bundle coming this January. My heart has been spilling over with joy since we found out and this recently kicking baby consumes my EVERY thought! I am loving every minute of this pregnancy:) Just over 20 weeks, I found out 2 days ago that we will welcome a baby boy into our family! A little rascal; here we go! The post below is the first of "baby boy" images I have worked on since finding out. With that being said, I felt such an attachment to this little guy and these images. Meet my buddy "N." He gets me pretty excited about having a boy.

"E" and I grew up together in the infamous subdivision Mt. Vernon Village, Washington Twp. As next door neighbors we shared countless childhood memories together; our imaginations had no boundaries. I hope my own children will have the opportunity to experience the same kind of magic we did.
Today "E" has two beautiful children of her own. Meet 3.5 yo "E" and 10 mo "K."

Some co-workers of moms decided to surprise her with a photo shoot for her baby shower gift! Like I always say, this kind of gift is so much more thoughtful than an outfit the baby will wear for 3 months! Rather than do a newborn shoot we decided to wait until little "S" was 7 months; a great time to document and when that little personality really starts shining through. Meet baby "S." She was such a joy to photograph:)

Here she is again! Little Red. We originally had our shoot in December on a cold gray day with a runny nose:( I told mom we had to get some more shots once the weather got nice! We met in the gardens at the Lincoln Park Conservatory. This was my first time shooting there and i will definitely go back! Okay, let's get to commenting on this beautiful red hair already! Can you believe your eyes?! And yes, IT IS that RED! Sweet "L" put on her favorite blue dress and rocked it for the camera! Reminds me of when Daddy Warbucks gives Annie that pretty little blue dress to wear to the movies:)

Gulp. What a whirlwind these past few weeks have been! A week in California, followed by packing up our entire place in 2 days and moving to Milwaukee! Back in Chicago for 2 weeks of shooting! My best friend is an amazing nanny for these two San Francisco kiddos! I had the privilege of tagging along one day and of course could not put my camera down! These two like to refer to themselves as doggies:) Meet "baby" dog" and "tiny dog" We obviously had a ton of fun!

Rain, rain, go away!..... The whole beginning of April had been nothing but rain! When I met the "M" family for a Saturday morning shoot, baby "M" was such a little ray of sun; and so perfectly aligned with the day. 60 degrees and sunny!
